One very effective strategy to increase post-secondary success and career readiness is the career ladder, i.e., scaffolding credentials and degrees to maximize earning potential. Health care careers have been one of the most effective implementations of this strategy. In this meeting we will hear about a successful practical application led by philanthropy. Nate Cousineau, Senior Program Officer at Quantum Foundation will present an overview of the Quantum Foundation Health Care Career Pipeline program. First developed in 2014, Quantum Foundation's Health Care Career Pipeline program promotes interest in health care as a career in middle and high school, works with partners along the educational pipeline to offer multiple entry points for students into health care careers while leveraging partnerships with key post-secondary institutions including Palm Beach State College and Florida Atlantic University to create a post-secondary career track. The pipeline supports students formally and informally. The variety of local partnerships mean easy on-ramps for other mission-aligned partners to coalesce around the mission of creating a pathway into health care careers for under-represented students. Their pipeline framework can be useful for other sectors outside of health care and can serve as a model for other networks looking to create a longitudinal method of supporting students along a educational and career pathway.
