What is your involvement with Florida Philanthropic Network?
"FNA is a proud member and partner of the Florida Philanthropic Network, collaborating on key initiatives such as the 2030 Census and Disaster Preparedness. In 2024, we strengthened this partnership by co-hosting a disaster preparedness workshop and launching a comprehensive toolkit designed to help nonprofits and foundations build resilience in times of crisis."
How have you built relationships across sectors to elevate the presence of Florida's nonprofits?
What are your top two tips for those looking to secure new funding partners? |
"Alignment and relationships.
1. Prioritize Alignment: Seek funding partners whose mission, values, and priorities align with your organization’s work. Research their funding history, strategic goals, and focus areas to ensure a strong connection. Clearly demonstrate how your impact aligns with their objectives and how a partnership can further their mission. Do not create a new program just to obtain funding.
2. Invest in Relationships: Funding is built on trust and relationships both old and new. Engage with current and potential funders beyond the grant application— share updates on your work, show them the impact of your work and how your organization can be a valuable, mission-driven partner."
What fuels your cup - in life and at work?
"The impact of our work is my greatest motivator, fueling my passion and dedication every day. Seeing the positive change we create keeps me inspired to show up and push forward. Outside of work, quality time with my family and the experiences I gain through travel rejuvenate me, through awe and a deep sense of fulfillment."
Can you share one piece of advice you would give to someone considering a career in philanthropy?
"Lead with curiosity and commitment. Philanthropy is about more than giving—it’s about listening, learning, and building lasting relationships to drive meaningful impact. Stay open to new perspectives, engage with communities directly, and approach the work with humility. The more you invest in understanding the needs of others, the greater your ability to create positive, lasting change."
