Supporting education issues, Organizations & needs in Florida

Join us as we begin with a site visit to Morgan Woods Elementary to observe an early childhood pilot project with the Hillsborough County School District and the Conn Foundation, a private preschool located on a public-school campus. See this dynamic and impactful community of practice with public and private teachers from Prek3 through Kindergarten.  Read a summary of the program.

The Conn Memorial Foundation will share the vision for the project followed by a tour of the classrooms and a panel discussion. The panel will include the district’s senior cabinet member responsible for early childhood, a senior management team member from the Early Learning Coalition involved with the project, a public school VPK teacher and the Executive Director of the private preschool.

We will reconvene our meeting at the Nonprofit Leadership Center where we will learn about work in Florida on closing the Black student achievement gap from Braulio Colon as well as get a national perspective on education funders from Frank Gettridge, President & CEO, National Public Education Support Fund.  We will also get a Florida election update as it pertains to our education policy work as well as discuss what is likely to come up during the 2023 legislative session.
