Healthy and financially sound nonprofit organizations are a critical precursor to growing impact. Yet nonprofits and their funders have fewer resources and feel increased pressure to deliver results. So, how can grantmakers help nonprofits generate more impact? By aligning grant dollars to the financial and business needs of nonprofit organizations, grantmakers can better support nonprofit financial sustainability and leverage their limited resources to achieve better and more results. It is critical that grantmakers have the ability to assess the financial health and condition of the organizations they are looking to support.

Join us for a workshop delivered by the Nonprofit Finance Fund that provides tools to guide grantmakers in their financial assessments of grantees and familiarizes participants with fundamental principles of finance in the nonprofit sector. Participants will also explore how to engage in a dialogue with grantees about financial challenges and resource needs and discuss grantmaking practices that can unintentionally hinder nonprofit effectiveness.

This workshop has received high marks from grantmakers in other communities and FPN is pleased to be able to bring it to Florida.

Scaling What WorksAbout Scaling What Works

Launched in 2010, Scaling What Works is a multiyear learning initiative of Grantmakers for Effective Organizations, a thought leader for promoting grantee-centric philanthropic practices that lead to more effective results. With the support of a coalition of 22 funders, GEO aims to expand the number of grantmakers and public sector funders that are working together to broaden the impact of high-performing nonprofits. Through Scaling What Works, GEO offers training, networking opportunities and a host of tools and resources to better equip grantmakers to help the nonprofit organizations they support to plan, adapt and grow their impact in creating sustainable benefits for people, their communities and our planet.
